Selvaggio Blu Extreme – Sardinia

Selvaggio Blu Extreme is the variant to the well-known Selvaggio Blu. This trek is a real challenge and certainly the most complex route in Supramonte. The route follows a long series of rocky bands, some of which are natural, while others have been worked over the centuries by charcoal burners and shepherds who have left indelible traces of their work in this area. The Selvaggio Blu Extreme runs very close to the sea and crosses areas of the Supramonte that are among the least frequented in the area. Exposed passages, climbing passages, long abseils and spectacular via ferratas characterize this "adventure", jumps into the turquoise sea at the end of the day's stages crown the experience. Sleeping is in the proximity of dreamlike bays in the sleeping bag under free star sky (if requested in the tent). Food and luggage are delivered daily via the sea path, making hiking with daypack possible.

Detailed programme:

Day 1: Individual flight to Cagliari. From there, we take a minibus (extra charge) to Santa Maria Navarrese in just under two hours and put up in a 3-star hotel. We enjoy dinner together and discuss the final details for the next few days.

Day 2: Today the real adventure begins on the Selvaggio Blu. After breakfast, an off-road vehicle takes us to the starting point on the Màrgine high plateau in just over an hour. From there, we hike through the Bàcu Addas until a vertical wall blocks the way. There we follow the climbing tracks until we reach the rocky ledge, 'S'Istrada Longa'. We follow this, very exposed, to its end and then descend further until we reach Plan'e Mùrta. In another half hour we reach today's bivouac site "Su Coile". We spend the late afternoon on the marvellous beach of Cala Sisine, where swimming in the crystal-clear water is guaranteed.

Day 3: after breakfast prepared by Giovanni, we set off! Today promises pure adrenalin. We ascend and climb along the via ferrata that crosses the centre of the Plummàre wall. This via ferrata is very exposed, but the views of the turquoise blue sea are breathtaking! At the end, two abseils await us. The second is 55 metres long, most of these metres are done hanging freely in the air - an abseil that will stay with us for a long time. We then hike on through the woods until we reach the last abseil (50 metres). This brings us to one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia - Cala Biriola. After a refreshing dip in the sea, we prepare dinner together. We spend the night in Cala Biriola.

Day 4: today the 7 abseils are on the programme. The abseil passages are in the Bacu Padente with spectacular sections. After a traverse right by the water, we reach the "Grotta del Fico". This stalactite cave is one of the most beautiful and important caves in the whole of Sardinia. We then ascend from the cave via the original escape route, a via ferrata. Passing a spectacular rock window, the Arco zu Feilau, we reach our bivouac site in Cala Mudaloru after a good 2 hours.

Day 5: Starting from the bivouac site, we reach a marvellous viewpoint. From there we ascend and climb 15 metres up a very exposed tree trunk until we reach the crawling ledge. We follow this ledge crawling or crawling to its end. We then continue along an old charcoal burner's path to above the turquoise blue sea of Cala Mariolu. A long abseil of 50 metres awaits us here, ending directly on the beach. The jump into the crystal-clear water will stay with us for a long time. This evening we enjoy fish.
Day 6: After breakfast, we make a pleasant climb up to the via ferrata "de us Lederes de Goloritzè". This climb leads to Cala Goloritzè, one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. The technical difficulty (C), and above all the nature of the terrain, demands great attention and concentration. After a break on the beach, we ascend and reach the Ovile Bertarelli, a family-run agriturismo, in the late afternoon. Here we are served various starters (e.g. culurgiones, malloreddus) and a "porceddu" as our main course. This dinner is a unique treat!

Day 7: Breakfast is served at Ovile. We then continue to Us Piggius, the starting point of the Cengia Giradili. We cross this rock band to reach Pedra Longa. We climb this striking rock needle via the normal route. We will climb the climbing section in the lower 3rd degree of difficulty secured by a rope. We then continue on an easy climb to the summit. The views of the sea are breathtaking. We reach the hotel in Santa Maria in the evening. Today we eat at the hotel and round off the evening together with a glass of Sardinian Cannonau and review the experiences of the last few days before falling into bed, tired and content.

Day 8: Early in the morning it's time to say goodbye to this experience. Transfer to Cagliari airport. With many impressions and experiences in our rucksacks, we fly back home.

This is the regular itinerary of the trip. Deviations due to weather, conditions etc. are possible and can be made by the mountain guide at any time.
